Everyone is yawning

No one is sleeping (but you will be)

Pause for a minute, Māmā. You’ve got this.

It’s lovely that your arm gets to fall asleep (nap-trapped, remote over there, phone just outta reach), but it would be really nice if you and baby got some sleep too.

If you need some help to get there, to merge your intuition of rocking and patting and swaying with some sleep science, I’ve got your back.

The goal here is more sleep and to support your instincts. You’ll feel in control again, ready to watch another episode knowing exactly when pēpi is gonna wake up.

JUST SAYIN’...

Arm cramp isn’t cute

Tired of sitting on the floor at 2am, morphing one arm through the cot bars? Sure, they look cute and squishy, but the RSI might be permanent if this carries on.

The Pēpi & Parent approach

Child Development

  • Everything is evidence-based and backed by science and child development psychology.

Your Intuition

  • Māmā, listen up - you know them best, you know the needs of your whānau, and you know what you need.

Baby’s Temperament

  • Your baby's natural inclinations are what we work with. Every age, stage, and pēpi has their own rhythm and needs.

"You've totally aced it for us again! A full week of only waking for his 2 overnight feeds, and going down with no fuss at all for both daily naps in the cot. He even will let dad put him to sleep again finally. Thank you!"

“Thank you for being honest, practical, research based and affordable. You have really changed my whole perspective on sleep for the better. A forever grateful mumma.”

“I feel like I can finally think straight.

I just want to say thank you. Your routine has been a game changer for us. We have gone from 3-4 night wakes to 1-2. Honestly I'll be recommending you (I have already actually) to anyone who wants to talk baby sleep.”

Kia ora, I’m Caylin!

MSc Psy, PGDip, Sleep Consultant

And I know baby sleep can be totally overwhelming!

When my daughter Claire was born she did.not.sleep. I suffered severe postnatal depression and sleep deprivation, and I swear, if ONE MORE PERSON from playgroup asked how she was sleeping, even with all the love in the world, I was gonna throw my toys out of the cot. No, aunty, cry-it-out wasn’t going to work for us.

I needed help, but sleep consultants were expensive and their qualifications…dubious.

Everywhere I looked there was a push to sleep train, which went against my parenting style and academic knowledge. Down the other end of the spectrum was a very holistic, co-sleep and 'roll with it' kind of sleep space. I needed a bit of both!

I had Māmā instincts for Claire, and a background in child development and mental health.

I decided to use my Masters of Psychology, child development and mental health background, and made a plan based around Claire’s temperament and attachment. All the good parts of what existed so far, with my knowledge added to the mix.

Responsive. Loving. Scientific.

Those old-school techniques could get in the bin. This worked. And 600+ private clients later, it works for them too.

SNUGGLE DOWN AND SLEEP

Cot, contact naps or co-sleeping?

If you need it, we’ll work towards it. Your baby, your parenting style - that’s what we’re gonna roll with.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this ‘cry-it-out’ with a new label?

Ew, no. Never.

It’s not spaced soothing, 2,4,6 rubbish, or anything else that you find uncomfortable.

Cuddle, rock, co-sleep - it’s your baby, and you know them best. Cry-it-out isn’t gonna happen here.

What are your qualifications?

Master of Psychology (Msc Psy) and 9+ years of hands-on experience in child development and mental health in the client-facing and academic sectors.

I’ve worked with 1000+ clients over 3 years with Pēpi & Parent. I’m not here to muck about or throw another unqualified opinion into the mix.

Can you help me if I’m Dad/Nan/Aunty?

Of course! If you need help with your pēps as the primary caregiver, I’m here for you.

What ages can you work with?

I have specialised training to work with all children from 0-12 years old. Most of my work is with newborns to 3 years, but please get in touch if you need support for those later years too.

I have another question…

Happy to help! Send me an email or drop me a message here.

Hush little baby…

(No, literally, it’s time for sleep.)

I wanted a different kind of sleep support

I have a masters degree in psychology, and years of experience in the mental health field. So when I felt able, I began using my knowledge of child development, temperament and attachment to support Claire’s sleep.

Having a predictable and consistent rhythm turned things around for us drastically. I’m not exaggerating when I say: it was life-changing.

So I began Pēpi and Parent. To help parents block out the noise with a new kind of sleep support that’s: evidence-based, individualised, and throws the generic 9, 12 and 4 sleep plans with spaced soothing into the bin.
